The mystery woman was perched regally in the mezz box all night. The blindfolded virgins showed up and some were, indeed, slaughtered or corrupted. My one complaint about the performance is that I thought this theme was not carried through as much as I’d have liked to see at the Inferno party. John Lindsey ( Paul Corning) sang us a gorgeous song, for which the room went dead silent, and sent us on our way through the Heath staircase entrance. Even through the blindfold, I could pick out Mallory Gracenin as one of the virgins. Is she an old cast member? A friend of the show? WHO IS SHE?!) The care and feeding of the blindfolded “virgins” being lovingly prepared for corruption/slaughter was beautiful and hot and haunting. ( Does anyone know who this woman is yet? I still have no idea. I especially enjoyed the tableau on the stage where the evening’s host was presiding over the head table. Either way, the wine was plentiful and generous and I wasn’t complaining.
Maybe it helped that I had a vegetarian entree, so there was more meaty-meat to go around. There was plenty of leftover food on the platter for every course. Some have complained the family style dinner was not robust enough to feed their group, but our end of the table left well-fed. She couldn’t remember mine off the top of her head, but that’s OK. Elizabeth Romanski (playing Violet DeWinter) greeted us by name as we entered, which was impressive since we haven’t been for over two months.
It was really loud everywhere (Am I officially an old person for thinking this?) and we were kind of overwhelmed by everything and everyone. It was nice to run into several tumblr folks! Sorry we didn’t have much time to socialize. It was the best Halloween party I’ve ever been privy to and we had enormous fun. I have no context to compare it to past Halloween parties and I really don’t care if it was better or worse than past years. Our first McKittrick party was a raving success. Happily, we have another SNM trip planned for Nov 5th-8th, so we’ll be back to our home-away-from-home soon. We picked up our car and, 6 hours later, we are home. So we slept in until 11am to check out of our hotel by noon.
